Ex-England Lioness Rachel Brown Finnis surprises Accrington Stanley girls team
Ex-England goalkeeper, Rachel Brown Finnis, visited Accrington Stanley U10s girls’ team last week. The visit took place to encourage more girls to attend Kellogg’s Football Camps during the summer holidays, and saw Rachel speak to the players about her incredible journey from playing at Stanley to reaching the WSL and representing England at the World Cup.
ASWFC launch new partnership with Accrington & Rossendale College
Accrington Stanley Women have announced a landmark partnership with Accrington & Rossendale College, part of the Nelson & Colne College Group, that will see the college become a key venue for training and matches across Stanley Women’s girls’ and women’s teams. For the 2025-26 season, Stanley Women will have 25 junior teams and four Open age teams, with player ages ranging from U9s to over 40s.
Stanley to Salou 2025
This summer, our U16 and U18 squads had the incredible opportunity to represent ASWFC on the international stage at the Costa Daurada Cup in Salou, Spain. From the moment they touched down, the week was packed with competitive fixtures, sunshine-filled team bonding, and unforgettable memories.
The girls brought passion and pride to every match, ultimately storming to the Silver Cup Final after a stunning 7–1 semi-final win. In a hard-fought final against Ultimate Madrid, they narrowly missed out on the title after a tense penalty shootout — but their energy, resilience, and sportsmanship made us all proud.
A huge thank you goes to our coaches, families, and especially our sponsors, whose support made this experience possible. From fierce football to beach celebrations, it was a week the squad — and the club — will never forget. Vamos, ASWFC!
ASWFC End-of-Season Awards Weekend
On May 10th and 11th, the ASWFC community came together for a fantastic weekend of celebration at The Wham Stadium to mark the end of the 2024/25 season. Across both days, players, coaches, families, and supporters gathered to reflect on an incredible year of football — with games, team activities, and plenty of well-earned recognition.
The celebrations included matches across all age groups, team days, and our much-anticipated awards evenings, where players were recognised for their dedication, progress, and standout performances throughout the season. Each night ended on a high with a silent disco, bringing together players and families in true ASWFC style.
We were honoured to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of Accrington, who joined us in recognising the achievements of our players and the impact the club continues to have in the local community.
A huge thank you to everyone who made the weekend so special — from volunteers and staff to families and players.
